The Great outdoors

We love playing outdoors at Pre-school!
Our large outdoor area offers the children the opportunity to explore. We have a patio area with a well stocked art and craft tent. A quiet reading area. A maths shed equipped with all kinds of maths related activities. Lots of physical play goes on the patio too with tyres, crates and planks of wood that the children can use to make obstacle courses, cars, trains, planes.....the opportunities are endless and a great way to get creative!

Mud Kitchen
The children love our mud kitchen, a firm favourite in which to make 'dinner' for everyone.

We have a large sand pit with a wide selection of accessories for the children to freely choose from, including buckets, rakes, diggers, cars and loose parts to create their own environments in the sand.
Physical skills
We have two climbing frames, which helps children to build up those big shoulder muscles, a small trampoline and a balancing beam too.

But the best thing about our outdoor area is that the children have the freedom to move about, run, jump and climb as much as they need to.

Gardening
We plant seeds and bulbs and have raised beds so the children can experience the joy of gardening and see how things grow and what they need to flourish. In the autumn the children love nothing more than helping us gather all the fallen leaves from the trees. They experience all the seasons firsthand.
Bug hunting
We do lots of bug hunting at Pre-school and have an ideal environment for the children to experience this. We look for bugs on a daily basis and use this as an opportunity to teach the children more about the natural world around them, talking about how to handle them carefully. The children are always so excited when they find a ladybird!
